Spotter

Terms

These terms apply from 5 November 2026. Spotter is run by Spotter PT (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa, number 2026/878355/07. The parts in bold limit what we are responsible for, or add to what you are responsible for. Please read them.

Who can sign up

A personal trainer who is 18 or older can sign up. Your clients do not sign up. They get a link from you and agree to these terms when they join. A client under 18 can join only with a parent's or guardian's consent, and their trainer must have it.

What Spotter is

Spotter keeps your clients' programmes, workouts, sessions, check-ins, meal plans and invoices on your phone and theirs. Spotter gives no training, nutrition or medical advice.

Health and injury

The trainer and the client are responsible for whether a programme or meal plan suits the client, and for how the client follows it. Spotter is not liable for an injury, illness or loss that comes from training or eating, unless something we did caused it.

Trainers: you must be qualified to train your clients, and you need your own insurance.

Clients: if you have an injury or a health condition, see a doctor before you start and tell your trainer.

Plans and prices

Standard is free. Plus is R295 a month. Nutrition is R395 a month on top of Plus. Plus and Nutrition are paid monthly by card, and renew each month until you cancel. We never see your card number, and we email a receipt for each payment.

You can cancel Plus or Nutrition at any time from Your subscription on the You tab. Your plan stays on until the end of the month you paid for, and you keep everything on Standard. If you cancel within 7 days of your first payment, we refund it in full. We do not refund part of a month. A promo code has no cash value.

We can change our prices and fees, including the fee we take on a client's payment. We tell you in the app at least 30 days before a new price or fee applies, and you can cancel before then.

Payments from your clients

Spotter sends your invoices and shows what your clients owe. Your clients pay you, not us. We are not responsible for whether a client pays, or for refunds between you and a client.

Your clients

You are responsible for your clients' information in Spotter and for having their consent to keep it. We use it only to run Spotter for you, and we keep it confidential and secure. If anyone gets to it without permission, we tell you as soon as we can, and we tell your clients and the Information Regulator for you. Our privacy policy says what we keep and how. Add only people you train.

Your content

Your programmes, notes and photographs stay yours. You let us store and show them only to run Spotter. The app and the exercise library, with its videos, are ours or licensed to us.

Using Spotter

Pausing and ending an account

We can pause an account that breaks these terms. We tell you why, and you can reply. You can delete your account at any time by emailing us. Everything you and your clients have in Spotter is deleted within 30 days. We export it for you first if you ask.

Liability

We keep Spotter running and your data safe as well as we can, but we cannot promise it will never be down or never lose data.

We are not liable for loss caused by a cyber attack or another crime, or by a fault at a service we use, unless we failed to take reasonable care.

Otherwise, if something we did causes you a loss, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the loss.

Nothing in these terms limits a liability the law does not let us limit, such as for gross negligence.

Claims against us

Trainers: if a client or anyone else makes a claim against us about your training, your advice, your invoices or how you use Spotter, you pay what it costs us, unless we caused it.

Changes to these terms

We tell you in the app at least 30 days before we change these terms. If you do not agree, you can cancel or delete your account before then. If you keep using Spotter, the new terms apply.

Law

South African law applies to these terms.
